Tools
Learn about the Tools your AI agents use.
Tools are like superpowers for your agents. They allow them to do specific things like search the web, analyze data, or create documents.
How Tools Work
You don't usually need to tell an agent which Tool to use. During a run, the Team automatically picks the best Tools for the work in front of it.
For example:
- If you ask for a summary of a news article, an agent will use the Web Search Tool.
- If you ask for a chart, an agent will use a Data Analysis or Image Generator Tool.
- If you give them a Google Sheet, they will use the Google Sheets Tool to read it.
Available Tools
There are many tools available, including:
- Research Tools: For finding information.
- Creation Tools: For making documents, presentations, and images.
- Analysis Tools: For understanding data and numbers.
- Integration Tools: For connecting to other apps like Slack or Google Drive.
Who Decides What a Team Can Reach
Tools are granted in two places, and the narrower one wins:
- On the team: what this group of agents is equipped with in general.
- On the process: what this particular work needs. A process can add a tool its team does not have, or take away one it inherited — so a team allowed to send email does not mean every process it runs may send email.
